Nicolai Ghiaurov (or Nikolai Gjaurov, Nikolay Gyaurov, Bulgarian: Николай Гяуров) (September 13, 1929 – June 2, 2004) was a Bulgarian opera singer and one of the most famous basses of the postwar period. He was admired for his powerful, sumptuous voice, and was particularly associated with roles of Mussorgsky and Verdi. Nicolai Ghiaurov was born on September 13, 1929 in Velingrad, Bulgaria. He was an actor, known for You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger (2010), Great Performances (1971) and Eugene Onegin (1988). He was married to Mirella Freni and Zlatina Ghiaurov.

Nicolai Ghiaurov, bass. The bass, Nicolai Ghiaurov, was born in Velingrad on 13 September 1929. As a child he sang in a church choir where he was discovered to have had an exceptional voice. After beginning his vocal studies in Sofia with Christo Brambarov he completed studies in Leningrad and Moscow.
